Where the song came from
It started at the sea
The first version was a small song called Amelie by the Sea. It was never meant to be the anthem. It just would not leave.
The bridge β the part about children hiding from the sky β was written by the client in one sitting and has not changed a word since.
Two audiences at once
The verses are for a five-year-old: short lines, concrete actions, things you can actually do today.
The bridge is for whoever is in the room with them. That is deliberate. The best children's songs have always worked on two floors.
